Coach Kaitlin (Head Age group Coach – Gold Group)
Coach Kait joined the Hamden North Haven Typhoon Swim Team during the 2009 summer season and has already taken on a great role as the head age group coach for the Gold Group. Coach Kaitlin has over 10 years as a competitive swimmer; much of which came as a Cheshire Ram aiding as their team captain. Coach Kait still is an active swimmer in Master’s and looks to focus on technique and fun with the Gold Group as we move forward with continued success!
Coach Nicole (Head Age Group Coach – Silver Group)
Coach Nicole swam competitively for over 14 years. She joined the Hamden North Haven Typhoon Swim Team during the 2009/2010 Short Course Season and was able to coach her swimmers to great results within the Yankee Cluster and New England Regional Championships. Coach Nicole has 2 years of coaching experience and is looking forward to continuing the rapid improvement with the younger swimmers to help them have fun, succeed and accomplish their goals throughout the season.
Coach Alisse (Assistant Coach – Summer)
Coach Alisse has been involved with competitive swimming for 10 years and we are proud that she has decided to continue her journey with the Hamden North haven Typhoons as a coach! Coach Alisse joined the Typhoons during the 2008/2009 Short Course Season and has been a great asset to the Typhoons as she has focused primarily on the Silver and Gold group! Coach Alisse loves to have fun with her swimmers, but makes sure that they learn at the same time!
The Coaching Structure
The Typhoon coaching staff is set up to provide one head age group coach per group with the exception of the Juniors and Seniors where Coach Andy will be responsible for both groups.
Workouts are written by Coach Andy and modified by the head age group coaches (as needed) based on their individual swimmers’ needs. The head age group coaches run their respective practices with support and supervision from Coach Andy, and meet on a weekly basis to discuss progress and/or obstacles. This particular structure allows for a great growth environment for the coaching staff as well as the swimmers since they have one dedicated coach to their particular group as well as a high level of involvement from the head coach.
If you have any questions about the coaching philosophies or anything else at all, please feel free to contact Coach Andy via phone (203-248-6361) or e-mail: ascherer@cccymca.org
