Swim Meet At Mystic YMCA

I wanted to say congratulations to all of the Hamden North Haven YMCA Swim Team swimmers for their excellent participation in today’s swim meet at the Mystic YMCA!  Everyone did such a great job and truly made Coach Elaina and me proud!  I’m sure your parents feel the same way!  A lot of swimmers that have been a part of the Typhoons accomplished personal bests (which is great considering we hit peak yardage this past week), and a lot (if not all) of newer Typhoon swimmers truly showed us that they love being part of the team and having fun while learning!

With regard to posting results, all of our results will be posted on our website as soon as possible.  I am pretty sure that we had a couple of swimmers qualify or come close to qualifying for New England Championships which was completely unexpected for our first meet!  I will update everyone on the definite results (again) as soon as possible!

Next week’s swim meet is at home (the Hamden North Haven YMCA) with a warm up time of 1:15 pm.  I am looking forward to another great turnout and another great time with all of our Hamden North Haven Swim Team swimmers and parents!

Mystic YMCA Swim Meet

I just wanted to let everyone know that there has been a time change in the warm ups for our dual swim meet against Mystic YMCA Swim Team.  What we thought was going to be an early start time has changed to a 1:15pm start time at the Mystic YMCA.  I have heard from almost all of our Hamden North Haven Swim YMCA Swim Team, but still need to hear from a few more families prior to submitting meet entries.  So, swimming warm ups at 1:15pm with a potential start for the meet at 1:45pm (give or take).  We will be swimming an 82 event meet (just as an FYI).

Aside from that, I will be posting yesterday’s swim workout for the Seniors on this blog later today.  If anyone needs anything, or you would like to see the practice please e-mail me for the password.  Happy swimming!

Hamden North Haven YMCA Swim Team

Last night’s Senior practice was unfortunately cut shorter than expected due to an unforseen circumstance.  Fortunately, though, we were able to get back into the pool and modify our practice a little bit to fit everything in.  The Silver group focused on their IM’s last night with almost everyone swimming them legally right now.  Coach Elaina and I are definitely very proud of their progress with (what really is) the most difficult event for that group.

Getting back to our Juniors and Seniors, if you would like to see their practice, I have posted it on here but have placed a password protection on the post.  If you would like the password please feel free to e-mail me at ascherer@cccymca.org.  Or, you can find all of our contact information on our Hamden North Haven Swim Team mainpage.  It wasn’t particularely the hardest practice with regard to the yardage (due to not having the pool for about 30 minutes), but it definitely raised the bar from where we were with regard to intensity of the swims.

Tonight, I will not be in attendance for the later practices as I have to attend a YMCA Yankee Cluster League meeting at the Middletown YMCA at 7:30pm.  However, I hope everyone is having fun getting ready for their first meets coming up on November 8, 2008 where we will be swimming against the Mystic YMCA Swim Team!  Go Typhoons!
